Olden Carpet and Flooring can create custom area rugs that are the perfect size and shape for hallways and rooms in your home. An area rug protects wall-to-wall carpeting in high traffic areas, provides a comfy spot for children to play on, or adds a touch of color or texture to enhance the room decor. We have a great selection of carpet remnants in our Penndel, Pennsylvania, showroom. We also have a wide variety of wall-to-wall carpeting. If you are ordering carpet for an entire room, it's a good idea to order extra so an area rug can be made.
Binding tape, made of cotton or polyester, is folded over the edge of a rug to give it an attractive, finished look and keep it from unraveling. The color of the tape usually complements, rather than contrasts, the color of the carpet fibers. Binding is the simplest and least costly way to edge a carpet. Serging is the second type of edging. To create a serged edge, yarn is wrapped around the edge of a rug. Fringing is a third kind of carpet edging. Usually, the fringing can easily be replaced if it becomes worn. A neutral off-white color is standard.
